Christine is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has practiced in the Mental Health and Social Work field for 22 years. She works with adults, adolescents (13 and up), couples and families. Christine’s approach to therapy is to focus on the whole person; the mind and the body. She is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, a strategy she employs to assist her patients in understanding how their thoughts effect their feelings and behaviors and how this may contribute to the symptoms causing anxiety and depression. Christine also has many hours of experience working with couples struggling with conflict resolution. Her approach is to help couples learn, build and practice nonviolent communication skills to increase understanding, empathy and resolution. Christine possesses many years of experience working with couples and individuals in the LGBT community and approaches her work with this population with respect and sensitivity. She has a deep understanding that while the needs of this population are unique and specialized, they also suffer from symptoms of anxiety, depression and other related mental illness. Christine obtained her Masters degree in Social Work in 1987 from New York University. She received her LCSW in 1993. Christine began her career as a Child Protective Services Caseworker in New York City and has been working in the area of Child Abuse and neglect in various roles throughout her career. Christine has used her early professional experience to inform her in her work treating adults who are recovering from the adverse effects of their childhood trauma. Her approach to treating PTSD related to childhood trauma includes: education, building skills by promoting mindfulness and distress tolerance and utilizing exposure therapy (Imagery Rescripting and Reprocessing Therapy).
Christine’s practice includes working with people both individually and in group settings. Her work also includes working with those who suffer from symptoms of depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, work stress and PTSD as it relates to childhood trauma.
